Amy mcintire

Trainer
Amy's love for running began at age 8 when she began participating in the Junior Olympics program. From there and through High School Amy won several State awards and recognition as a sprinter.
As Amy matured as an athlete she found an interest in longer runs and began entering 5 and 10ks. At 24, she entered her first half marathon and a fire ignited for endurance sports. While living in Dallas and juggling a corporate career Amy worked with the staff at Run On!, a North Texas based athletic store, to train individuals for distance races.

Time passed with Amy continuing to run half marathons and marathons sponsored with brands like Brooks and Asics. Amy’s continued interest for long distance running introduced her to trail and ultra running. Amy’s family grew and with the birth of each of her three daughters she always came back to distance running and has recently added multi sport racing.

Over the years she has completed several ultra marathons and sprint/olympic distance triathlons and has received invitations to national competitions for her performance. Amy's favorite accomplishment to date was the Rocky Raccoon 50 mile race in Huntsville, Texas.

Currently she is training for her first IronMan in November 2017 in Tempe, Arizona with ambitions to train for her first 100 mile trail race.

Amy is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a bachelors of science and completed her Masters in Business at Texas Women's University.

    • Carrie started running for the same reason a lot of women get into the sport - to lose weight.  After the birth of her son she began seeing improvements in her weight and energy levels and made the decision to increase her efforts in the field of running. After training for a 5k (and running the race without stopping) she never looked back.
    • For someone who believed running 5K's would be enough, she decided to try her hand at further distances.  Today, Carrie has run more than 30 half marathons and one full marathon. Combined with her work ethic and the help of the HG team, Carrie set PR's in the half marathon, 5k & 10k at the ripe age of 40.
    • Since 2014, she hs worked with new and seasoned runners as a pacer for Red Coyote, preparing people for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and Tulsa's Route 66.  She loves seeing people accomplish goals they never believed possible.
    • We are throughly excited to welcome Carrie to the Higher Ground family.  See the classes tab and sign up for one of Carrie's classes now!  You won't be disappointed.
